“Secrets kept are weapons wasted”
Welcome to Wild Rift Tips and Tricks Series Part I. In this article, I will go through the top 10 tips for beginners who are new to the game. If you are new to this genre of games, it can be overwhelming to figure out what each character does, learn what are the right items to buy, and even navigate yourself around the map.
Without further ado, let us begin!
- Tip #1: Start off with Co-op vs AI
- Tip #2: Try out every Champion in Wild Rift
- Tip #3: Master one Champion for each Role
- Tip #4: Learn the Wild Rift Map
- Tip #5: Play with Friends
- Tip #6: Survive as Long as Possible
- Tip #7: Focus on Objectives
- Tip #8: Vision is Crucial
- Tip #9: Preset your Loadouts
- Tip #10: Practice, Practice and Practice!
Tip #1: Start off with Co-op vs AI
Everyone starts off somewhere and if you are completely new to the game, there is no shame in practicing through Co-op vs AI. The game developers have done a pretty good job with the AI in Wild Rift and if you are up for it, there is even an intermediate difficulty.
Since you are competing against bots, players there are generally more forgiving than the ones in Player Vs Player (PVP). This will definitely give you a much more enjoyable experience starting off as a beginner while learning the mechanics of the game.
Tip #2: Try out every Champion in Wild Rift
I would suggest starting off with beginner-friendly champions such as:
- Garen (Tank/Fighter)
- Annie (Mage/Support)
- Sona (Support/Mage)
- Ashe (Marksman)
- Master Yi (Assasin/Fighter)
Trying out every champion will let you understand the skills of each champion and how you can play around them. This can also help you figure out your playstyle and decide on one that you want to focus on which leads me to my next tip.
Tip #3: Master one Champion for each Role
Deep dive into one champion for every role will allow you to fully understand their skills and mechanics. Investing your time to master a champion will allow you to fully draw out the potential of the champion and know what to build to counter your opponent.
Tip #4: Learn the Wild Rift Map
Take some time to understand the map. This will allow you to know where all the jungle camps are and what is the fastest route to get to where you want to be on the map. Mastery of the terrain also gives you possible escape routes when you are in a sticky situation while avoiding team fights at chokepoints.
Tip #5: Play with Friends
Playing Wild Rift with friends is not only fun but also lets you learn about the synergies between various champions. Learning how to work in a team and how champions interact with each other will certainly help to increase your win rates.
Tip #6: Survive as Long as Possible
The number one mistake by newbies is to jump into team fights hoping to get kills. My tip for beginners is to try to survive as long as possible. Do not walk aimlessly around the map looking for kills, instead, try to survive and wait for opportunities to strike.
Tip #7: Focus on Objectives
Taking objectives plays a big part in helping you win more games. These are the objectives in Wild Rift:
- Destroying Turrets
- Placing / Destroying wards
- Farming
- Getting Rift Scuttlers
- Killing Dragons
- Getting Rift Herald
- Slaying Baron Nasher
- Killing Enemies
As you can see, getting kills is not the only objective in the game. Kills alone will not win you the game but completion of objectives will help push you towards victory.
Tip #8: Vision is Crucial
As mentioned in the previous tip, placing wards is one of the most important objectives in the game. Having a vision of your jungle and river allows you to know when an enemy is coming to gank. This will give you room to prepare if you want to counter the gank or make a timely escape.
Tip #9: Preset your Loadouts
Before you enter a match, it is recommended to preset your loadouts. Having items and runes that best suit your champion will increase your chance of winning. If you are new to the game, follow the loadouts that others have success with. Once you have a better understanding of the game, you can customize your own loadouts.
Tip #10: Practice, Practice and Practice!
Practice makes perfect! The more you play, the better you get. However, unless you are a full-time professional player, you should still focus on your main job/studies while you refine your skills on the rift. Otherwise, learning from your mistakes through repetitions is the best way to improve.
