How I started and thoughts
My friends were persistently inviting me to join them in their games, and I gave in. That… was how I started with gaming `(*>﹏<*)′. It was definitely intimidating at first trying out new games, especially when you are playing multiplayer games with more seasoned players (my friends).
They definitely did tease and insult me here and there, but at the same time, I managed to learn lots of tips, tricks, and strategies along the way through playing more often and with these seasoned players. Over time, you will get better, so don’t let the idea of trying a new game alone intimidate you.
There will be times when you don’t get the game, and get annoyed, but that’s normal. Even for seasoned players like my friends, they will still get angsty and irritated pretty often in games when things don’t go their way.
Games that I started out playing
I started off my gaming journey with common MOBA PC games such as League of Legends, which then came Overwatch. Other than PC games, I also decided to check out console games and the Nintendo Switch craze and got myself a Switch and some games. Check out my Switch games article here if you want to find out more! I was also introduced to mobile games such as PUBG, Onmyoji Arena, Call of Duty, etc by my friends.
If you prefer less intense games, you can start off with common games which I name the Super Mario series namely Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros, Mario Party, which are all console games. It can also be played on the PC with the help of an emulator which you can download it easily online.
There are also many puzzle and trivia games available if you prefer them over shooting or sports games. Or if you are a multiplayer person, try encouraging a friend to start gaming with you too to make this journey less intimidating, and more enjoyable.
Overall thoughts
I started gaming not too long ago, and if you are just starting off, I definitely feel you. I was in your shoes just awhile back. There is a lot of exploration and trying out to find out the kind of games that you like to play, especially with this wide genre of games out in the market. You can also find communities of gamers everywhere online, where people share their in-game experiences, or even in-game items, etc.
So… Do not feel intimidated by this vast world of gaming, and take everything with a pinch of salt. Keep an open mind and try as many genres of games to figure what you like and dislike! It all starts with the first step and most importantly, have fun!
